Nephropathy means a kidney disease or harm. Diabetic nephropathy is a chronic situation which takes place by alteration in the function to glomerular. The nodular component denominated Kimmelstiel-wilson Nodules is pathognomonic of the Diabetes. Diabetic Nephropathy which is characterized by means of high blood pressure, increases the proteinuria causing the diminution of the renal function. Person with family history of Diabetic Nephropathy is more likely to develop it as well. Inadequate glucose control may also be a factor effecting the risk of nephropathy. Use of ACE Inhibitors is essential as microalbuminuria indicates increased pressure in kidney. Lipid management, non-smoking and aspirin therapy also helps to control the disease condition. The solution to the final stage is either Dialysis or Kidney transplantation.
